Nepal, widely known for its rich and diverse geography, culture, ethnicities and religions, home to approximately 23.5 million Nepalese people, is a small country in South-East Asia and is landlocked between China and India. The entire landmass is divisible into three distinct belts - the Himalayan region (North) which encompasses snowcapped Himalayan range and world’s eight out of ten peaks measuring more than 8000m, the Hilly region (middle) which houses gorgeous mountains, hills, valleys and lakes, and the Terai or Plain region (South) which is highly fertile and consists of dense forests, wildlife reserves and cultivated lands.

Nepal is the member of the United Nations and has established diplomatic relation with 113 (Jun 2001) countries of the world. Major export commodities are paste, Pulses, oil Cake, Catechu, Jute good Sacking, Twins, Carpets (Hand knitted wollen), Readymade garments, handicrafts, ginger.

The capital city of Nepal is Kathmandu and it is where the only international airport of the country is situated. Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are the two other major cities in the valley of Kathmandu which has seven World Heritage Sites recognised by UNESCO. Likewise, Pokhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Nepal, famous for its serene lakes and is gateway to the enchanting Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
